Getting back to blogging is something I've had my mind on for a while, I did it for several months last year and it was something I really loved. I have always been a Tumblr girl but Blogger gives me to ability to talk a lot more. Tumblr isn't really the places for lots of rambles and big paragraphs and I'm the kind of person that loves to go on and on, so I think blogging is the way to go.
Lately I've been branching out from my regular blogs that I check daily and I've discovered a whole new world (Aladdin pun, check it) and I'm kind of a little bit obsessed with it. I'm just going to say it, YouTube beauty gurus are my new favourite thing. Elle and Blair Fowler in particular I am loving at the moment.
So I am really loving haul videos, room tours and that kind of stuff. I have never been huge on fashion - Boyfriend teases me constantly about my stance on comfort before fashion - and I have been known to squeal over cosy sweaters before flouncy skirts. However, as I'm getting older I'm finding myself interested in more things. Clothing, for example - I am actually looking forward to dressing myself tomorrow. This is something totally new for me, as usually I just throw on whatever I was wearing last night (this is usually leggings and a grandpa jumper), but I think it is the influence of university that has realised this change.
Uni is stylish. I'm an Arts student, and I cannot even count how many pairs of low-heeled suede boots I have seen in the past week. Every day I am inundated with skater skirts, velvet hairbows, and tights in every colour and pattern imaginable. I used to wander around in my pipe jeans and hoodies and feel ridiculously lazy, but lately I've actually been trying and the change is remarkable. I don't think its shallow to feel better when you look prettier. It's just about feeling good about how you look.
So I guess this is an experiment to challenge myself a little bit more. This blog will mostly consist of my thoughts and certain 'pieces' on topics, but it's also a space where I can document my growth in the area of fashion and beauty.
My ability with liquid eyeliner is something to be rivalled, but that's really the only skill I possess in this area. Hopefully I will learn, and you guys will hopefully learn with me along the way.
Here's to something more than cat eyes!

free flow
long legged, wild haired, impossibly beautiful. youth was so delicate and lovely i wish i could cup it in my hands. but youth, like water, has the tendency of slipping through the cracks, no matter how tightly you try to hold it. you can’t grip onto something without friction. it is the way of the world; there is nothing without friction. it keeps you on the ground, it keeps you still, it keeps you moving. and friction is beautiful. especially the friction between your leg and mine, bouncing in the spaces between our fingers, rubbing up against the seams of your jeans. the loveliest friction, and indeed, the loveliest part of being young, was between you and i.

undecided
I don't really think I've ever been this undecided about anything. Usually I make up my mind and stick to it. But this, I'm constantly arranging and rearranging my thoughts. I tried to make pros and cons. I get angry, I get upset, I get lonely. I feel like if there's this much indecision then I shouldn't do it. It's so easy to think that way. I always do what I'm told; maybe because everyone's telling me not to, is why I want to?Also, my mum is being a brat.

untitled
You make me really happy. I wish I could love you the right way.P.S. The specimen in this photo is a man by the name of Brendon Urie. He's fantastic and beautiful in every way that exists, and then in some ways that don't. One day I'm going to find my own Bden, and I won't be so messed up. I'll realise him for what he is and I won't screw things up. I'm going to get it right one day. Somehow.

something to think about
Do you know what my advice is? You should always choose at least one History class throughout high school. Year 11 History was my favourite class, and part of that was because of my awesomely hilarious teacher, but the other part was that I loved the subject. Nazi Germany - fuck yeah. It was awesome. I mean, you know, the things that happened weren't. They were horrible, and the more I learnt the more I was horrified. But the subject was delicious. Every book I read, every new fact I memorised, made me more interested in learning about history. And not just the history of my country - Australian history is kind of blah - but the world's history. This planet is around 4.54 billon years old (I just Googled that) and so much stuff has happened. We are but a blip on the radar. Everything you think is important, everything that you think matters; doesn't. So stop worrying about the mark you're going to get on your maths test or whether you really like this person or what your parents are going to say when they find out. In ten years it's not going to matter, in twenty no-one will remember, and in a billion (if the planet is still around) your race might even be extinct.
Something to think about.
